NASA is planning to send Perseverance rover to Mars on July 30, 2020. The mission launches from Cape Canaveral, Florida. NASA invites you to participate in this mission remotely. You can submit your video, take a photo on Mars or next to Perseverance rover and sign up to send your name to Mars on future space missions.
It takes 7 months for the Perseverance rover to reach Mars, Feb-2021.
Why NASA is sending Perseverance rover to Mars?
In it’s search for any biological life evidence on Mars NASA is sending Perseverance rover. Rover will collect soil and rock sample and returns to earth. It also collects information on geological and climatic conditions of Mars.
“During these challenging times, no matter where you are, you can participate in this launch and help send this robotic geologist on a mission to explore worlds beyond our own,” said Michael Greene, the director for communications and education at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, which manages the mission.
How to participate in mission launch?
You can record your own version video of the countdown saying “5-4-3-2-1” and upload on social networking sites using #CountdownToMars. NASA might feature your video on social media or even on launch day. Here’s how to participate.
How to send your name to Mars?
Rover is carrying 10.9 Million names to Mars. People who have already given their names will get a special “Now Boarding” stamp and are ready to launch. If you haven’t signed up yet, you can participate and get eligible for future space missions.
