Important Magic Keyboard Shortcuts For iPad Pro

Magic Keyboard works with iPad Pro 12.9 inch 3rd and 4th generation or iPad Pro 11 inch 1st and 2nd generation. You don’t need to pair or turn on your Magic Keyboard to use it.

How To Wake iPad Using Keyboard

Attach iPad to the keyboard. You can press any key to wake the iPad. Again press any key to bring up lockscreen. You can unlock the iPad using face id or passcode. You can enter passcode using keyboard or enter directly by touching iPad.

How To Adjust Trackpad and Keyboard Brightness

This is a little long process to adjust brightness of keyboard. Keyboard doesn’t come with function keys to adjust volume, brightness and other functions.

Go to Settings > General > Keyboard > Hardware Keyboard. You will find a slider to adjust the brightness. To increase move the slider to right, reduce the brightness move slider to left.

To Change trackpad settings go to Settings > General > Trackpad. You can change speed of the pointer, scrolling direction, on/off Tap to Click, Two Finger Secondary Click (Simply – right click in normal mouse).

Basic Shortcuts

Cobination of iPad & Magic Keyboard comes with wide range of shortcuts. Shortcuts are customized to each app. In order to view all the available shortcuts when you are in an app, press and hold command key until a window pops up. It will display all the available shortcuts.

How To Close App From Home Screen

Hold Command and press Tab Key. Keep clicking the Tab until the desired app is selected. Once the app is highlighted and without releasing Command, press Q. This will close the app for you without touching the screen.

Shortcuts

Command-H: To go to the Home screen from any app of the iPad.
Command-Space bar: This will show or hide the Search field for you to search the iPad.
Command-Tab: Switch to the next most recently used app among your open apps.
Command-Shift-3: Take a screenshot and save in photos.
Command-Shift-4: Take a screenshot and immediately open Markup to view or edit it.
Command-Option-D: Show or hide the Dock. This works from any app in the iPad.
