How to easily edit and enhance photos on your Mac?

Editing photos on Mac is pretty simple and great. Take a great shot and make it even better. To edit a photo, double-click the thumbnail in your Library. Then click Edit in the upper-right corner of the window.

The buttons in the upper-right corner help you do things like mark an image as a favorite, rotate, or enhance. Click Enhance to automatically improve brightness, contrast, and color.

To edit further, choose from three groups of editing tools: Adjust, Filters, and Crop. You’ll see a tab for each at the top center of the window.

Mac – Adjust

Adjust helps you fine-tune your photo’s light, color, sharpness, and more. You can move the sliders to manually adjust these tools or click Auto to adjust automatically. Click the triangle next to each tool to see more controls. To turn an adjustment on or off, just click the blue circle that appears when the tool is open or when you hover over the feature.

And to compare all of your edits to the original, click and hold this button in the top-left corner to show your photo without adjustments.

Filters

Want to apply a filter to your photo? Click the Filters tab at the top of the window. Next, select your filter. Vivid filters are great for enhancing the vibrancy of your images. Dramatic filters add contrast. And Mono, Silvertone, and Noir give a classic black-and-white look.

Crop

Now let’s learn how to straighten your photo or crop it to improve the composition. Click the Crop tab at the center of your window. Then, click and drag the selection rectangle by its edges or corners to crop your photo. Drag the numbered dial up or down to straighten the image. As you move the dial, a grid will appear on the photo to help with the alignment. If you want, click the Aspect icon to choose a preset ratio.

Click the Flip icon to flip the image horizontally, or press the Option key and then click Flip to flip it vertically.

Mac – Undo

Got a little carried away? You can undo your last step by pressing Command-Z on your keyboard. And you can always revert to your original image by clicking Revert to Original in the upper-left corner of the window. When you’re done editing, click Done.
