How to create a child account with Family Sharing on iPhone or iPad?
With Family Sharing you can share Apple subscriptions, iCloud+, and more with your family. As a parent or guardian, you can add your child and set up parental controls all at once. Here’s how to create child account.
Create Child Account
Tap your name in Settings and then tap Family Sharing. Tap the Add button in the top-right corner. Now, tap Create Child Account and your iPhone will walk you through the process. First, add your child’s name and birthday. And to verify you’re the parent or guardian, tap Verify You’re an Adult. Now, enter the security code for the payment method shown. This is for verification purposes only and your card will not be charged.
Next, review the Family Privacy Disclosure, as well as the Terms and Conditions, and tap Agree to continue. For your child’s Apple ID, you can create a new iCloud email address or use an existing email address if they have one. Then, create an Apple ID password you can both remember.
Safety
When your child signs into a new device or web browser, a verification code is sent to your phone number, so you’ll know each sign-on is secure. If your child has their own phone number, you can use that instead. To easily set up parental controls, tap Turn On Screen Time. You’ll see suggested content restrictions based on your child’s age. You can tap Turn On Restrictions to use these suggestions or customize each content type. Now you can read about and turn on communication safety to protect your child from viewing sensitive photos, downtime to schedule time away from the screen each day, and a Screen Time passcode you can remember that’s required to change these settings.
By default, you will be able to approve your child’s purchases from the App Store, iTunes Store, and Apple Books. And your child’s location can be shared with family members in the Find My app. All set! Your child’s Apple ID is ready to use with all the parental controls in place. You can add another adult in the family as a parent or guardian, too.
