As we get older, we also shrink.

As we get older, we also shrink. However, at this moment in time we are talking about something that does not happen over years or decades, but something that happens over and over again on a daily basis.

If you measure your height with absolute precision when you get out of bed and then do so again in the evening just before you go back to bed, you are going to notice a difference. For most people, the difference is around 1% of their height, and as you may have expected, it is all to do with the way in which we battle the weight of gravity against our spine.

As the day progresses, the spaces between joints, bones, and muscles are all getting smaller, and it is that movement that ultimately leads to us getting smaller.
